Woking life can be so stressful and we really need to go in to work with the right frame of mind, so here are a few tips on how to keep positive at work.
1. Start off right
Your health is so important to your mental state. If you skip breakfast or eat an unhealthy one that has no nutritional value, your mind will be tired and not be able to cope well when pressure comes. So feed your mind with the right nutrients. Also how about reading something positive first thing in the morning instead of reaching for a newspaper full of bad news?
2. Don’t take it personally
If your manager tells you off, don’t see it as a personal attack or “proof” that they don’t like you. It’s unpleasant for them to have to call your attention about something too. You got told off? Take it on the chin, improve and move on. Be mature and don’t change your behaviour towards that person.
3. Don’t compete
Work together with people as a team instead of trying to outshine others or taking the full credit for things. This will only create a bad atmosphere and it’s hard to keep a positive mental attitude if this happens.
4. Use positive language
If someone asks you how it’s going, don’t start complaining about all the difficulties with the job. It puts you in a bad light but also your words have power and will end up putting you down. If you do have serious issues, speak to the person that can help you such as your manager.
Remember, no job is a bed of roses. If you got another job, there would be faults there too, and difficult things to deal with. It’s all about dealing with things in a more positive way.
