Break the Silence End the Violence 2012

It was a walk to remember, one that took place all over the world, in countries such as Brazil, South Africa, and Holland. In full support of the International End Violence Against Women Week, women everywhere joined forces, and here in the UK was no different.

Chrissy joined hundreds of other women to brave the early start and dreary weather to march for a cause, which for chrissymany, was very close to home. Donned all in black, with white masks, placards and newspapers, they marched.

The positive response of the public was more than enough to leave the rain and cold weather as a distant memory. The groups received attention from onlookers and approval in the form of thumbs ups and the beeping of horns.

After the march, an event was held at the Rainbow Theatre and was recorded in front of a live studio audience to air on TV at a later date.

As one of the speakers, Chrissy emphasised that domestic violence was not an issue that would be ignored but also encouraged victims that with the right help and support, there was indeed life after abuse, but first, the silence had to be broken, meaning the first step to healing is when a person opens up to someone about their ordeal.
